How do I customize my plate?

First use the catagories on the left side to select your plate style. Once you select your style can enter your plate text and then click "Add to Cart". You will then be prompted to login (for existing customers) or to create an account.

What mounting hardware do I need?

If you are replacing a front plate, then you can just re-use your existing screws. If not, then you will need to purchase some hardware and attach the plate and frame to the vehicle using one of the methods described below.

Screws
If you have holes in your bumper, any of the screw kits are they way to go. If you don't have holes in your bumper, you will either have to drill them and get the screw kit or just go with one of the 3M dual lock kits.

Import Vs. Domestic Locking Screws
Import screw kits use metric size screws and are meant for foreign cars such as Audi, BMW, Mercedes and VW.
Domestic screw kits use standard size screws and are meant for US cars such as Chevy, Ford and Dodge.

3M Dual Lock
The Dual Lock kits are adhesive on one side and velcro on the other. You mount one side to your bumper, one side to the frame and mate the two together. If you remove the 3M kit in the future, it will not harm your bumper or paint. We give you five mating pairs--which is more than enough to secure the plate and frame to the bumper. If you have a black bumper, get the black 3M kit. Otherwise, get the clear kit. And while the kits will hold up to driving at high speeds, they don't hold up well to thieves or car washes.

Will this fit on my vehicle?

All our frames are designed to be universal and fit on any vehicle, even with bumpers with holes for US license plates. The logo frames are the same frame as the universal frame, but with a logo printed on it.

Curved bumper?
Any of the frames should work except the Stainless Steel or Chrome Frames. For all other frames, we recommend putting the aluminum plate inside the frame and bending it GENTLY until the plate and frame have a curve in them that match your bumper. Then remove the plate from the frame, mount the frame to the vehicle, and then put the plate back in.

Some notes about particular frames:

The Chrome frame is made of plastic with a chrome finish. It is not recommended for curved bumpers.

The Stainless steel frame is not recommended for curved bumpers.

Are the plates meant for legal use?

Our plates are only meant for use in the front and in NO state is is legal to use a European License Plate on the back. Customers that are concerned about this might want to get their actual plate numbers on the plate and not custom text. That being said...

Are these plates really authentic?

Yes! Our plates are made from the same blanks you would receive in Germany. We order all of our materials from the same suppliers that provide plates to German license plate manufacturers here.

What if I am not satisfied?

CUSTOMEUROPEANPLATES.COM guarantees your satisfaction. We make every reasonable effort to ensure that our customers are satisfied with the products that they purchase through this site.

What if I mess up?!?!

Since your license plates are custom made for you we can not accept returns for customer typos under any circumstances. We will offer you a discount on your next order as compensation.

How many plates are in one order?

Unless you specify otherwise, 1 order is 1 plate and 1 frame. You can always specify the quantity on checkout, but the default is one plate per order. Most often this question is asked when shipping to a foreign country. Please note, as mentioned in an earlier FAQ, our plates are NOT for legal use.

How Much Space Do I Need For Registration Seals

One full space is the perfect gap to fit both registration seals. We offer a half space for those of you trying to fit extra characters on the plate but the seals won't fit. Two spaces looks a little odd as it leaves a big gap between the characters.

What happens after I place my order?

Products are shipped as soon as possible once an order is received. You will receive a notification email once your order is placed to let you know when your order should ship although most products ship on the morning of the same business day if the order is received before 2pm EST. Once shipped, delivery times can vary depending on location. Delivery typically takes 2-5 business days. If you have not received your item within 1 weeks from the date your product was confirmed to ship (not the date you paid) please notify us. Plate text change is not permitted on replacement plates. If we should get your package because of an incorrect shipping address customer is liable for additional shipping charges after verification of the correct address.

Taxes

We will automatically charge and withhold the applicable sales tax for orders delivered to an address in the state of California. We do NOT charge sales tax on any orders shipped to other states.

All returned merchandise must be in original condition, and must include the original factory box (UPC bar codes and serial numbers must be intact) and factory packaging (e.g. foam, plastic, wrappings, etc.), peripherals (e.g. battery, charger, cords, straps, etc.), included warranty cards (without markings), and all instruction booklets and paperwork. The RA number or any other inscriptions must not be written or printed on the product box or packaging. We will not process the return if any of these conditions are not followed.
